Frequently asked questions
Is this free?
Yes. Every dataset on the Downloads page is a free, direct download with no account or key required. The API is also free — sign up, generate a key, and start making requests.
Do I need an API key for everything?
No. Bulk downloads never require a key. The live API requires a key for most routes; a few (health checks, the downloads manifest) are always open.
Are there rate limits?
Each API key has a daily and monthly request quota shown on your dashboard. Basic (free) covers duas, dhikr, 99 names, and events at 500 requests/day. Premium and Full access are paid subscriptions that unlock more of the API — hadith, tafsir, prayer times, Quran text/audio, and more — along with higher limits. See Pricing for details.
Can I use this data in a commercial project?
Yes, personal and commercial use are both fine. See Terms of Use for the full picture.
What if a dataset I need isn't available yet?
The Downloads page lists some categories as "Coming soon" — these mirror what other Quranic data projects offer, but House of Islam hasn’t packaged them yet. Everything else marked available is ready today.
I found an error in the data — how do I report it?
Content across Quran, hadith, tafsir, and other datasets comes from a mix of sources and may contain mistakes. Let us know through the Contact page and we’ll take a look.
